VIA Freeze and VIA Thaw both have ethernet ports so that they can be connected to a network. Certain VIA Thaw devices also have an internal WiFi capability but if yours does not, or you want to add WiFi to a VIA Freeze, here is how you can achieve this.
You will need a specific ethernet to WiFi adapter device or a more general purpose Wireless router that supports Client mode.
GE has tested the following devices:
Device | Notes |
IO Gear Ethernet-2-WiFi adapter, model GWU637 |
No configuration required, but the adapter requires power from a USB port or a separate USB charger. |
TP-link WR802N https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/3g-usb-adapter/tl-wr802n/ |
Must be configured for Client mode before use. |
Example connection:
